mountains

I’m interested in how organisation occurs

how living things become what they are, how they create relationships with one another and the environment they find themselves in.

Each year I find myself back in Kathmandu leading an expedition to the high mountains of the Himalaya.

Kathmandu is about as far as you can get from the peace and beauty of the high mountains.

The traffic density has changed beyond recognition from the days I first visited over twenty years ago when the roads were filled with pedestrians and cyclists.

Now cars, trucks, buses, motorbikes and tuc-tucs, the motor driven trishaws, replace bicycles.

A journey through the colourful maelstrom is hair-raising for the uninitiated but those who are practised in the craziness of city travel let go of their anxiety and accept the chaos for what it is.
